Speaker 1: Welcome to the In The Clouds podcast. In The Clouds is a marketing cloud podcast powered by Lev the most influential marketing- focused Salesforce consultancy in the world. Lev is customer experience obsessed, and podcast host Bobby Tichy and Cole Fisher have partnered with some of the world's most well- known brands to help them master meaningful one- on- one connection with their customers. In this podcast, they'll combine strategy and deep technical expertise to share best practices, how- tos, and real- life use cases, and solutions for the world's top brands using Salesforce products today.

Bobby Tichy: Welcome to the In The Clouds podcast. This is Bobby Tichy and Cole Fisher, and we have a very special, very contextual, very serious episode for you guys today, considering it's National Podcast Day.

Cole Fisher: And by special, what Bobby is alluding to is the fact that normally if you're tuning in to this podcast, it's really for the driving reason that you want to hear about Salesforce technologies, about current implementation or best practices, or what people are doing in this space, digital transformation, something that's probably pretty valuable and pretty pertinent to what you're doing. We want to just set the stage today that since it's National Podcast Day, we really just want to put a little collection of some of the goofiest moments, and so essentially what this will be is a brief respite from any sort of redeeming value that this podcast has, whatsoever. And we're just going to have some of the best of completely unrelated, that we didn't choose, but it's been selected by our team that... I don't know-

Bobby Tichy: Well, not just our team, by the masses at large, Cole, the millions of the people who listen to this podcast, they voted on these, and these were the most interesting portions of our podcasts from the last year or so.

Cole Fisher: The funny thing is, it's hard to have tie- breaker votes when there's only two votes. So it's been odd, but we'll start with this first clip here. A lot of the sort of COVID height of lockdown, one of the big byproducts was how are people getting haircuts and things like that? Well, we were complaining about that before it was cool, so here's a clip of Bobby and I talking about some of our worst haircuts.

Bobby Tichy: Most important question, as we moved to completely unrelated-

Cole Fisher: Naturally.

Bobby Tichy: What is the worst haircut you've ever had?

Cole Fisher: Well, you could argue that it was just my general haircut growing up. I don't have to worry about that. I'm shorn now. But my general haircut-

Bobby Tichy: You're what now?

Cole Fisher: I'm completely shaved now.

Bobby Tichy: Did you say shorn?

Cole Fisher: Shorn.

Bobby Tichy: I didn't even know that was a word.

Cole Fisher: My general haircut growing up was for the longest time, we didn't refer to it as... It was a bowl cut. It was just a straight up bowl cut for a long time.

Bobby Tichy: Oh, that's what I had.

Cole Fisher: Just like fro- ed out. But it was kind of like the straight across, Dutch cut that people were like," Hey, did you get like a free bowl of soup with the haircut? Tell me you got something out of this deal." But the very worst, I was probably six or seven. And my brother and I went down on our bikes to the barbershop and we're like," Hey, let's get a spike," because that was the cool thing, it was wearing hair in a spike or just basically just getting a buzz cut. I went for that and they basically just, I guess, didn't shave anything off. I got sent home, my mom was like," Well, they didn't do anything to your hair. They didn't cut anything." And so she sent us back. I was like," No, no, no." You're six or seven years old, you and your brother. Like," Tell him you want an actual haircut, take something off." And so I guess out of spite, barber, Bob, I'll never forget, Barber Bob out of just spite, just basically shaved me completely. He was like," You want it short? Okay, you got it." Take your frustrations out on a six year old. I came home and I thought my mom was going to be mad at me for some reason, so I put a hat on and I kind of stood under the pine tree and she's like," Let me see it." She describes it to this day, she would just see a skinny little spindly legs sticking out from the pine tree. And I was too afraid to come out. I came out and she... My mom is like the tiniest sweetest lady ever, but not a mean bone in her body. She went down there and reamed old barber Bob," You scalped my son to prove a point."

Bobby Tichy: Oh, my gosh.

Cole Fisher: "You're awful."

Bobby Tichy: So at what age did you have the bowl cut?

Cole Fisher: Basically up until six- ish. It was mostly up until six, it was a hardcore bowl cut.

Bobby Tichy: Because my thought was I had the bowl cut from I think around six to nine, where it was literally like someone put a bowl on your head. I mean, that's really what it looked like. But I also went through a phase where I put a ton of gel in my hair. So middle school and high school, it was the LA looks, ultra- firm mold, up until 10. And so if people touched it, it wouldn't move.

Cole Fisher: Just a helmet head.

Bobby Tichy: Yes. Yes. Although one of my favorite things, as I've gotten older and started to lose my hair, I'll never forget this. We were in Las Vegas, my wife and I, and we were taking a picture in the mirror, like cool couples do?

Cole Fisher: Well, naturally, everybody.

Bobby Tichy: Trying to take a selfie in the mirror. My head was down and kind of looking at her and she could see the top, the crown of my head. And so she's looking at the picture and she's like," You're losing your hair." And ever since then, I admittedly use a Rogaine every single day and I swear it works.

Cole Fisher: Really?

Bobby Tichy: It's been fantastic. Yeah. So Rogaine, if you're looking to sponsor our podcast.

Cole Fisher: That would have been good advise 10 years ago from you.

Bobby Tichy: I'll never forget that. She's like," Are you losing your hair?" And then as soon as I started using it, she started taking pictures of my hair so we could chronical it.

Cole Fisher: Like you've just become the subject of an experiment.

Bobby Tichy: Exactly, exactly. This next clip is all about making fun of Nick for choosing the wrong boy band, and what were some of our favorite fads and the best'90s boy band of all time, where there really is only one right answer.

Cole Fisher: True statement.

Nick: And jumping into completely unrelated, the best fad you guys can think of, or your favorite fad, I should say?

Cole Fisher: I had a weird thing. I always had an aversion to following fads. I think it was younger brothers' syndrome. Whatever my brothers were doing, I had to do something different or cooler. Say they were already into a fad was thing, I was like,"If not inventing this thing, I don't want to just follow." But one of the coolest things, especially when I was really young and impressionable, snap bracelets. Do you remember those?

Bobby Tichy: Oh, yeah.

Cole Fisher: I remember collecting those. They were all the way up my arm.

Bobby Tichy: The girls wore them.

Cole Fisher: I mean, they were all up my forearms. The more you had, the more street cred you had. I mean, it was a thing. [crosstalk 00:07:55].

Bobby Tichy: I'm just imagining when I'm walking down the street and I see a gang and they've all got their bracelets, it's not somebody you want to mess with.

Cole Fisher: You know to stay away from those. They're wilds.

Bobby Tichy: The things that I love are just all basically around food. I think the best or my favorite fad, because I consider it a fad because it's not around all the time, are the... I'm totally losing the name of it. The mint milkshakes at McDonald's during St. Paddy's Day.

Cole Fisher: Shamrock shakes.

Bobby Tichy: Shamrock shakes.

Cole Fisher: I've never tried one of those.

Nick: Oh, they're delicious.

Cole Fisher: Really?

Bobby Tichy: They are really good. Yeah. They're green, minty. Oh, it's delicious.

Cole Fisher: crosstalk St. Patty's theme.

Bobby Tichy: Nick, I'm going to guess yours is a mullet, since that's what you currently have.

Nick: I do have a mullet-

Cole Fisher: And you're playing pods right now.

Bobby Tichy: I think there's a good classy way to wear a mullet. I think it's a look that's going to come back.

Nick: It's not my favorite fad. I think my favorite fad or the best fad, and maybe this is just nostalgia talking, but through the'90s, there was some great boy bands. I mean, the choreographed dancing [ crosstalk 00:00:09:05].

Bobby Tichy: Oh, I like what you're putting down here.

Nick: I think that that is one of the best fads to come out of... There's no shame in being a coordinated dancer.

Cole Fisher: I don't know if I would call that a fad as much as I would just call it raw talent.

Bobby Tichy: Here's the million dollar question, Backstreet Boys or NSYNC?

Nick: Oh, NSYNC.

Bobby Tichy: Cool.

Cole Fisher: Well, every group has to have one guy who's wrong. It's Backstreet.

Bobby Tichy: Yeah, exactly. It's clearly Backstreet.

Cole Fisher: crosstalk just way off.

Bobby Tichy: Just because Justin Timberlake ended up having a better solo career, it is not me, but NSYNC was better than Backstreet Boys.

Nick: Yeah, I couldn't name a Backstreet Boy.

Cole Fisher: Yeah, because there's no I in team.

Bobby Tichy: Exactly. Beautiful, beautiful. And speaking of things that are absolutely not debatable, this next clip goes into some really complex and deep- rooted issues. There are a lot of things that people tell you not to talk about on first dates or in work environments. It's politics, religion.

Cole Fisher: Now, we're not afraid to push that envelope here, Bobby.

Bobby Tichy: No, we're really not. And we want to add the favorite flavor of Pop- Tarts to that as well. So jumping over to completely unrelated, this has been a big topic for our team and I say a big topic because all three of us agree on what the best Pop-Tarts flavor is.

Cole Fisher: Well, I don't think it's really subjective necessarily. It's just how much greater is this best flavor than everything else? And actually, I took a lot of heat when I was pre- Salesforce. I had a startup and I took a lot of heat for really getting aggressive after lots of Pop- Tarts. I used to get in really early and I would basically just bring Pop- Tarts with me every day. And so I became the Pop- Tarts guy.

Bobby Tichy: How many would you eat?

Cole Fisher: Oh, I would normally only eat two, but I always had Pop- Tarts. That incidentally, became my staple. I didn't want to be the Pop- Tarts guy. There are worse things to be-

Bobby Tichy: I was going to say, I think you would want to be the Pop-Tarts guy [crosstalk 00:11:07].

Cole Fisher: Well, my boss at the time thought it was hilarious for some reason. He and his wife, when they were shopping, they would find the most exotic new flavors of Pop- Tarts. They were just kind of randomly bringing them in. And I thought," Oh, okay, I'll sub these in." And that's how I actually got to try... Because I was a pretty basic guy. I don't know if you know this about me, I'm relatively basic with most things. And so I was a strawberry, I was a blueberry guy. I tend to steer clear of the cinnamon crowd. That's just not my jam.

Bobby Tichy: Cinnamon?

Cole Fisher: But he brought in the best flavor ever, and it was s'mores. I thought it was it was crazy close at first. The gram was... The whole, it was just delicious. I remember it just knocked my socks off.

Bobby Tichy: There's really no competing. And so speaking of s'mores, so Joni, my wife, has a cabin, runs it as an Airbnb, and she left all the s'mores ingredients for her first guests, that just came the other day, which I thought was really nice. What I thought was really cool, that it was on the back of the Hershey package, they gave you four ways to make a s'mores. Can you think of the four ways to make a s'mores?

Cole Fisher: Wait, wait. Are you talking about four other ingredients?

Bobby Tichy: No. No.

Cole Fisher: I've seen people dropping in Reese's Cups. [crosstalk 00:12:28].

Bobby Tichy: Oh, unbelievable, by the way. Unbelievable.

Cole Fisher: I've not expanded into the connoisseur ways of the s'mores.

Bobby Tichy: No. It was four ways to actually make the s'mores. So Hershey, marshmallow, graham crackers. So what's the most basic one?

Cole Fisher: Well, you put mallow on... Or chocolate first.

Bobby Tichy: No, no. This was actually, how would you heat up the marshmallow?

Cole Fisher: Oh, over a fire.

Bobby Tichy: Okay. So that's one.

Cole Fisher: It's the only one.

Bobby Tichy: There are three others. I was very impressed with Hershey's ingenuity.

Cole Fisher: What? You could technically microwave it.

Bobby Tichy: That was another one. So you put the graham cracker, the chocolate and the marshmallow on top, and then you put it in there for 30 seconds or so. And then you pull it all out.

Cole Fisher: If you tell me there's a deep- frying or boiling way, or something like that, I'm just...

Bobby Tichy: No. But there was a baking.

Cole Fisher: Baking s'mores?

Bobby Tichy: Yeah.

Cole Fisher: So, you could microwave it for eight seconds, or you can put it in the oven-

Bobby Tichy: Put it in the oven for 12 minutes. Yeah, the same concept. But the last one, I thought was the most ingenious one and probably the most effort-

Cole Fisher: An ironing board with wax paper and you can pleat your pants at the same time.

Bobby Tichy: You're actually not that far off. It's a grill. So you make the whole s'mores, and then you wrap it in foil, and you put it on the grill for medium- high heat for three minutes.

Cole Fisher: Who knew-

Bobby Tichy: Which I don't think would actually work because I think you would just completely melt the chocolate.

Cole Fisher: Oh, that could be really... Why don't you just like fire- up the oven or whatever and just dump the whole thing into a blender and just ruin the whole traditional. It's supposed to be over a bonfire.

Bobby Tichy: Well, I'm glad that this conversation went totally to s'mores because there's really no other Pop- Tart flavor worth mentioning. I do want to call out Menards. Menards, if you're listening, s'mores Pop- Tarts flavor at the bottom of the shelf, raspberry and cherry on top, you got it flipped. And not to mention, they had unfrosted Pop- Tarts. I'm pretty sure that's against the law.

Cole Fisher: Yeah. That's just an incomplete Pop- Tart. They're just not done yet.

Bobby Tichy: Exactly.

Cole Fisher: And in this last one here, now Bobby, personally, I would never accuse you of being overly analytical at all, but in a court of law this next bit might get the book thrown at you by a jury of your peers. Listen in to Bobby's ever so tedious drink regimen. If you think Bobby thinks things out, listen to this.

Bobby Tichy: So completely unrelated, your go- to beverage. Now, I have a science to this because-

Cole Fisher: I'm curious to hear, because you're going to blindside me with this.

Bobby Tichy: I don't know. I don't have a go- to beverage. I have go- to beverages.

Cole Fisher: Beveragi.

Bobby Tichy: Yes. Oh, beveragi, I like that. Yeah. Let's make that a term. What I mean by that is just about every hour of the day, I have a different beverage for not only each day, but the time of year. Let me give you an example. Right now-

Cole Fisher: Do you do anything else?

Bobby Tichy: This podcast. Late spring early, summer, starting off the day with a cup of warm coffee. So usually wake up early, have a cup of warm coffee, go do some things. And then my wife and I have our morning time, where we'll chat and we'll talk about the day ahead and anything else that we talk about. We'll usually do that for about an hour. That's a cup of decaf coffee.

Cole Fisher: You got a taper off that old caffeine.

Bobby Tichy: You can't get too excited there. Then after that, I'll come inside and usually do some kind of activity, workout. And then after that, I will have typically some kind of a smoothie. And then once I sit down to work, I'll have another cup of caffeinated hot coffee. This is about, I don't know, we'll call this 8:30, 9: 00. So then as I get into my mid- morning, I'll either have a homemade cappuccino or I'll have some kind of carbonated beverage.

Cole Fisher: Now, how are you deciding in this type of moment? Because it doesn't sound like there's a lot of subjective factors here. Talk about our processes of test and optimize, this is clearly something that you've been perfecting for years. I can tell there's been a lot of thought process put into this and a lot of effort. I know when you're like," Oh, do I do this or go to a carbonated beverage?" I know you're not going to like," What do I feel like?" There's is a like," What is the season? What is the precipitation outside? What's the barometric pressure?" Or, what is dictating this?

Bobby Tichy: Well, the biggest thing for the first portion of the day is the coffee is the caffeinated intake. However, it's also a comfort for me. Coffee is by far my favorite drink, by far my favorite drink.

Cole Fisher: You're very [ inaudible 00:17:51].

Bobby Tichy: You're right, over a number of years and processes and journeys, I've put myself down to figure out that these are the things that I need. We'll fast forward a little bit because this is getting a little long- winded. Usually around 4: 00 or 5: 00, if I decide I'm going to have an adult beverage, I'll usually have a vodka with some ice.

Cole Fisher: Straight out of the bottle, just a pull.

Bobby Tichy: Yeah. And then if I'm feeling up for it afterwards, I'll have a Michelob Ultra or two. Not every night, of course. But the other portion of this that's very important is vacation beverages. Vacation, and I'm talking beach beverages because I feel like that's a whole different lifestyle. Right? So let me just play this day out for you. Joni, my wife and I, get up, we have this morning walk, it's a two and a half mile walk to this coffee shop. We go there, we have iced coffee, or warm coffee just depending on the temperature outside

Cole Fisher: Again, you got to take in the objective measures.

Bobby Tichy: Yeah. And then we'll do the two and a half mile trek back. And then that's usually about, so we'll call it 11: 00, we start the morning off with a Monster in a Yeti, make sure it's cold, as we go out to the beach and then usually we'll come in for lunch. That's where the fun stuff starts.

Cole Fisher: Caffeinated Monsters, right?

Bobby Tichy: Oh, for sure. Yeah. Do they decaf Monsters?

Cole Fisher: I don't know. I would imagine they do, like the light stuff. I don't know. But you guys are getting jacked- up.

Bobby Tichy: Yeah. Oh definitely. Yeah. There's a lot of excitement in our household. So then after that is when the Monster plus some kind of adult liquor enters the picture.

Cole Fisher: Oh, this is the taper in, taper out.

Bobby Tichy: Yeah. Last year, for those of you familiar with Monster, it's the white can, I think it's called Ultra Zero with coconut rum. Fantastic. Really, really good.

Cole Fisher: Interesting.

Bobby Tichy: But I just found out and I told you about this earlier today, shout out to my brother- in- law and sister- in- law for Corona limons. You drink the neck of a Corona, you still put the lime in it and then you put in a little bit of lemon rum. It's a limon rum. I can't remember the brand. Bacardi.

Cole Fisher: Bacardi.

Bobby Tichy: Yeah. Oh, it's great. It's great. As you can tell, this is a loaded question.

Cole Fisher: This is essentially, if listeners have learned anything, it's test and optimize, and that Bobby's going to get cirrhosis of the liver within the next five years.

Bobby Tichy: Or my heart's going to explode. What about you?

Cole Fisher: I was just going to go with water. No, I always have very simple PBR on deck. PBR's a beer that if you have a terrible day at work, have a PBR. Hey, if you've got a great day, you got a promotion, have a PBR. It's the most versatile of beers, I feel like.

Bobby Tichy: It's fantastic. Have you ever had a Hamm's?

Cole Fisher: I have, when I used to make poor, poor decisions. Hamm's is what I would offer to somebody that I wanted to stop drinking." Here, have a Hamm's. It'll be your last beer of the night."

Bobby Tichy: But how can you turn down a 30- pack for$ 9?

Cole Fisher: That's just when you know something is wrong. You get what you pay for, and for$ 9, you get just a terrible hangover and regrettable choices, and re- examining your life decisions.

Bobby Tichy: So for your favorite pop or soda... Do you say pop or soda?

Cole Fisher: I say Coke. I'm like a Kleenex. I've always just," Do you want to have a Coke?" That just means carbonated beverage. Have a Coke.

Bobby Tichy: I don't even know who you are.

Cole Fisher: Is this podcast... The whole thing is just...

Bobby Tichy: We're [ crosstalk 00:00:21:51].

Cole Fisher: It's a breakup, folks.

Bobby Tichy: The is the last episode.

Cole Fisher: It's official. But my favorite Coke is Big Red, for sure.

Bobby Tichy: First of all, it's pop.

Cole Fisher: It's a childhood favorite.

Bobby Tichy: It's pop.

Cole Fisher: That is controversial at best.

Bobby Tichy: And the correct answer is Mountain Dew Code Red.

Cole Fisher: Now we're definitely done. That doesn't even rank in the top three red Cokes.

Bobby Tichy: Wouldn't it be great if we just flat- lined from here.

Cole Fisher: I think we've effectively lost everyone. Thanks for stopping by everyone.

Bobby Tichy: Well, we hope you enjoyed this hard- hitting podcasts and recap of some of our favorites completely unrelateds. And if you want to continue hearing content that's completely unrelated to anything that you might be doing or related to technology or Salesforce in general, then don't give us any ideas, or you can send in your ideas to In The Clouds at lovedigital. com, and we can get back to your regularly scheduled programming.
